Not necessarily. If you fit 35mm drop then your ok with standard dampers.

My old EX 3rd Gen was lowered 40mm on G Max springs on OEM shocks. Was a bit crashy but nice.

If you are going to keep the car for a while I agree with Donald, at least with coilovers you can taylor your drop to suit yours needs too
Maybe keep an eye out for some decent 2nd hand ones

This. Save up and do it properly.Donald wrote:Do it once, do it properly and do it safely.
Save your pennies til you can afford coilovers.

I agree with Donald, fbs2s, and Rob. ^^^
But I also understand it can take a while to save up a spare £650 odd quid!
So, if you just want to get it lower for the meantime to make it look better; these are both pretty cheap. You could use them with your OEM shocks. I agree with Ratty though; the ride may be a little 'crashy' with such a setup.
And I would only go down this route if someone on here is willing to help you fit them (unless you can do it yourself). Because otherwise you'll probo pay £100+ to have a garage fit them for you - all money you could be putting towards the coilovers.

After that, you can save up for a bit & get the setup Nathan has suggested on your other thread; which will be so much better.
In fact, I think I'll be looking at investing in a set of those BC's once I've done my engine conversion I think. They look great!
Cheers Nathan.
Keep us posted with whichever way you decide to go.
Hope that helps a bit.

Although, having said that ^^^ the product description for each of the links i posted says 'not suitable for 4wd' Do you think they mean 4ws? Would these springs be useable for fefe's application?
If not, sorry.

I've had a think, and I'm definitely leaning towards the coilovers
I will definitely be going lower than 40mm eventually, so I may as well wait and just do it once. To go lower than 40mm I'd really need new shocks which are gonna be £300 odd quid, plus £100+ for springs, so i'm 2/3rds of the way to the coilies.
Are there no cheaper coilies out there that anyone knows of?
And does the suspension setup differ from 4ws to standard?
Thanks for everyone's comments so far
