I did a UKDM 2.3 to JDM 2.2 VTEC swap and the VTEC never worked, I added the wires as people have suggested but it still wouldn't engage. Further research showed the JDM under bonnet fusebox needed to be put in the UK car to make the VTEC work because it is different. The 2.2 engine bay loom will make your life a million times easier mate, if you don't use the loom and the JDM fusebox and instead you just try adding in wires, my money says you'll never get VTEC to engage.

So it i literally swapped everything from one car to another no reason it won't work? Adding and swapping wires sounds more complicated to me lol

Um, maybe, yeah FBS2S.. apparently a JDM motor needs a JDM fusebox.
Kris, swap the motor and gearbox, the engine bay loom, the fusebox and the ECU and you should be sorted
just be careful when you pop the driveshafts out of the gearbox cups and take note of which way the square bearings come out, because they will fit in the wrong way round then when you drive it you will crush them all <--talking from experience

Sorry man, have to disagree - done two UKDM 2.3 to JDM 2.2 swaps - had VTEC both times. Never touched the fusebox, just ran the extra wires up from the ECU. The JDM engine loom then connected to the bulkhead connections and it was gravy all the way.bb1boy wrote:I did a UKDM 2.3 to JDM 2.2 VTEC swap and the VTEC never worked, I added the wires as people have suggested but it still wouldn't engage. Why do you have to live in Scotland? Can't you just come round when I'm doing it for the day and do the wiring for me. Seems like the wiring is the hardest part!
