Well, it's been a while so thought I should probably do something! Went to good old Halford's and got a 12 point 14mm deep socket to get those head bolts out. Second cylinder head I've had to remove, and once again the jack handle/socket wrench combo saved the day! The bolts were properly stubborn but with the leverage they came out. Thought it'd be nice and easy to get the head out after that, but no

had to remove a clamp from the power steering line, also disconnect some of those cable tie holder things from the engine loom, and finally when I lost my patience - slashed hoses with a knife

anyway, got it out, and here's my piston block
Not good! It's shot anyway so will be weighing it in for scrap. Not got an engine crane so stuck now, but next move is to remove the gearbox and pull the bottom end out, then I'll be on the way to getting the new block in

Looks more manageable now though at any rate
All this is made more complicated by the fact that my girlfriend and I are hopefully moving out soon!!
