Re: My bb4 lightweight
Oh well you live and learn, the car drives well and pulls when needed. The downside is it needs new discs and pads and a new speedo converter (the rev counter jumps like crazy), there are a few other odds and ends that need fixing but I bought it having found these issues (your right he didn't disclose anything) so I knew they were going to be needed. I did question the mileage as the odometer read 86k and he quoted 58k I took no notice of his explanation and bought thinking it was 86k miles but I guess it could be more if he's known to clock. Anyway a honda engine goes on and on and on so no worries

sorry on the news mate but me i would not be to concerned. with the amount of cars now where people fix on the cheap, they change clocks from scrap yards cause theirs is not working and they don't know how to change the milage. engine swaps all the time without paperwork change!
she looks very tidy and as long as she drives sweet that is all that matters and now she is in the hands of someone who knows how and on a forum where the knowledge is endless she has a second chance of being A1 lude. if the milage is higher than stated that may be a bonus all the common things that go wrong may have already been and gone and only time will tell but i recon you got yourself one sweet lude there m8 so love it and vtec it alot

Not sure, I can't remember the details (there's been so many of his cars I've checked)Pushki wrote:Is this the one that had been in a front-ender with a bent slam panel?

There's no real comeback as a buyer as it will be 'sold as seen' first thing I'd do in the morning is jack it up and have a good under and around the car, check the shut lines, look at the bolts on the bonnet/door/boot hinges - if paint has been scratched off the bolts, then that panel has been off at some point. If there are signs of accident damage - contact him. It wasn't recorded as a wrote off on hpi, but that doesn't mean its not been jigged.
If there's no sign of accident damage, first thing I would do ASAP is change the belts, plugs, engine oil and gearbox oil (I remember some buying a car off him and it has sand in the gearbox?) I'd sort these items out first, because the true mileage of the car isn't known, and could be well over due.

if it had then looking at the pics you put on then i want to use that garage the seams you have between panels at the front are 100% perfect the rear offside back bumper gap is a little off but whos isn't simple job of remove check and straighten crash bar and put back on. other than that m8 she is a minter.

Re: My bb4 lightweight
thanks rob i'll do that, i did get under the car before i bought it and it all looked pretty straight, panels and doors look well aligned and consistent gaps.
I will jack up the car but to be honest i'm not sure what i will be looking for other than bent bits on the chassis and now any bolts with paint scratched off.
I did a text check and it it all came back clear but i know you cant rely on those. I did my best at checking it over but not being that skilled i was a little in the lap of the gods.
Any way i have it now, whatever needs to get fixed will get done and i will love it till it rusts away.

No worries. When you look under it, just look at the suspension and chassis to see if anything looks bent. Does it drive straight? Does it pull to either side?
It probably hasn't been bumped, just clocked. So get it serviced and the belts done and all should be ok
