Yeah they're reversing sensors. I've got the invoice from when they were fitted. They were fitted at the same time as a brand new rear bumper was fittedDonald wrote:![]()
Are they proximity sensors in the rear bumper Nafe?
Dunno if I've missed this earlier in the thread or it's a trick of the light but seems like something is there.

So are you suggesting my breathe is likely to smell of alcohol? lolSpace1999 wrote:and also breathalise you if then can smell alcohol.

I got searched for weed when I was pulled over, as the grumpy woman police officer said she could smell it. I did explain that all old VW's smell the same, but she proceeded to throwing all my crap onto the kerb and finding nothing, then leaving me to put it all back inNafemanNathan wrote:So are you suggesting my breathe is likely to smell of alcohol? lolSpace1999 wrote:and also breathalise you if then can smell alcohol.

Well the relevant legislation says
You could argue that you don't want your freshly resprayed bumper driller for plates in case of damage or something. I'd be curious though stk if you can easily make out all of the letters on your plate from ~20m given the angle it must sit at plus the plate will be partially concealed by the dark part at the bottom of the windscreen, unless of course you fix it higher up.
2) Except as provided in paragraph (4), a registration plate must be fixed in the manner required by paragraph (3) on—
(a)the front of the vehicle, and
(3) This paragraph requires each plate to be fixed—
(a)in a vertical position or, where that is not possible, in a position as close to the vertical as is reasonably practicable, and
(b)in such a position that in normal daylight the characters of the registration mark are easily distinguishable, in the case of a plate fixed on the front of the vehicle, from in front of the vehicle
Make of that what you will(3) This paragraph requires the plate to be fixed—
(a)vertically or, where that is not reasonably practicable, in a position as close to the vertical as is reasonably practicable,
(b)in such a position that in normal daylight the characters of the registration mark are easily distinguishable from every part of a relevant area having the diagonal length specified in paragraph (4).
(4) The diagonal length of the relevant area is—
(a)in the case of a mark having characters the width of which is at least 57 millimetres, 22 metres,
(b)in the case of a mark having characters the width of which is 50 millimetres, 21.5 metres,
(c)in the case of a mark having characters the width of which is 44 millimetres, 18 metres.

you took my comment to serious
my number plates are illegal anyway.. so hey ho.. the font are not right... they're too big. i got told many years back
also i got the english flag on it ( i'm welsh ) plus ari boy at the bottom or something
My excuse is... it wasn't illegal years ago.. well until they change the law.
WIth the front number plate... it cracked from where someone reversed into it with a tow bar.. i took it off for my track day then left it off.. if cops ask .. i've taken it off as was worried id lose it..( id show them the cracked number plate) but its been like this for so long now.. i've seen many cop cars/vans/bikes etc etc.. tbh i dont think they care as its still on show.. and if they book me for it.. its more hassle for them for such a silly thing
My dads good friends with the cops around me too.. my dads told me many times if i get in trouble, tell them who i am..

Re: Nathan's BA4 3rd Gen
I could argue I thought I was doing them a favour as surely both my number plates being angled upwards it makes it easier for speed cameras to capture them
Anyway, I think this is where my front will remain...

And my method of holding it in place...

A cork
