if the ecu doesn't have tcs installed and the tcs plug isn't plugged in how would it know to light the light ? I fitted a light unit that had a tcs light in it but it didn't light up because if the ecu doesn't know its there and isn't checking on it it wont light up

I believe the new ECU should work fine, but you'll get the TCS warning light up and lose your tachometer, which can be fixed by a simple mod to the wiring at the ECU end.
Merc, 4thgenphil or someone else, posted up the info on the wiring mod about about a month ago???

Well lesson learnt, the ECU does turn on a traction light.. So it don't work but the rev counter also doesn't work. So completely wrong f*cking ECU, bought a strut brace off here ... Apparently 4th gen but can't get that to fit because of the brake pot bracket is in the way, I was told to change the thermostat because the engine is not heating up half way so changed that and it still doesn't f*cking work. Now I've got a f*cling broken car that I've bought things for it and nothing worked so that's 5 hours down the pan time to put the old ECU back in and still have no VTEC because engine not heating up!!!!! Royally f*cking pissed off. Not to mention the Manifold I bought off here had a crack in it and is leaking and whistling.

So the ECU doesn't run the car at all?
Like I said above, it should run fine, but put on the TCS light and stop the tacho working, both of which can be rectified quite simply and the guide to the latter (the most important problem) is definitely on here somewhere?
EDIT:
Here. This is how to fix the tacho when you have the 3 plug ECU in;

Yeah sorry for the mega rant. I just have loads of problems with it now. I did ask if it would work but didnt realise there would be problems. I have no idea how to do wiring so got no idea what to do with that. I've put my old ecu in so now the traction control and rev counter works. However I now still have the problem with the engine not heating up after putting a brand new thermostat in. So Im still in the jobby. It's using twice as much fuel

Not warming up is a wierd one, can't think what else it would be after changing the thermostat?
Does the heater blow hot after the car's been running for about 15mins?

I run it to London and back every day to work. Ill run it 40 miles south on the A1 at 70-80mph constant and its still freezing cold, and only one little bit on the temp gauge, sometimes a quater but never half way. It's been like this for a week now. I've PM'd you back Wurly.
