New Laptop Connection Set-Up

Post by toadster » Wed May 22, 2013 12:03 am

LO All :D

My Uncle has just bought a new laptop from Argos.
His current PC is really old and hasn't got a good enough spec to handle his fast broadband speed , reason for the upgrade.
He is on Virgin and has their Anti virus protection software as part of his monthly TV Calls Broadband deal.
This is currently on the old PC but not on the new laptop , i believe it came with McAfee installed.

My question is this , do Virgin need to know he has changed computers or is it just a matter of downloading the relevant software :?:

I would guess as it's using the same line that this is the case :?: then either disable or uninstall the McAfee anti-virus software :?:

He wants me to set it up for him on Thursday , so any answers most welcome

Cheers Geeks ;)

Just ignore the Mcalfie stuff. Get AVG free. Job done.

But yes just download the mcalfie stuff again and it will sort itself.

McAfee and Norton are the 2 main ones I remove at work. To be honest with you there terrible. And tend to slow down you're pc.

That aside, just install it on the new laptop. It'll be fine.

I have 3 computers here which all have virgin pc guard installed, so I guess you can put it on as many machines as you like. You just need to be logged in to your virgin account to download it.

Yep, no need to let them know you've got a new computer, just go ahead and do it.
I should think once connected o virgin broadband, it will suss out that you don't have the anti-virus stuff installed and start giving you pop ups asking you if you want to do it anyway?
