On my 3rd gen I have a similar problem just its showing me overheating and then drops to normal
checked for water in radiator but its all fine and the car doesnt look like overheating
also is all 3rd gen fan turns on when you stop and turn the engine off? Its working for aprox 5-10min after a few mile ride. Thanks

I don't have a fan on my radiator because the new radiator I fitted was slightly bigger than the standard for some reason? So tried to adapt the fans to work and then realised they didn't even work any way. So need to get new ones.
Any way on to the heating up, I can travel 40 miles without it even heating up half way. If I squeeze the pipes when it's hot it will go half way for a while and then drop back down again so no vtec as it thinks the engine is still cold?!
It's never over heated once... Touch wood.
The part it self is so easy to get to its right next to the manifold so 2 bolts and its undone. I'm hoping?!
I found a few on eBay really cheap between £15-£20. It's just finding the right one for the 2.2 92 as they seem to be non existent?!

I'm assuming that this is the thermostat? And some how the thermostat is inside the housing?
Got no idea how to take it apart without.

Both are hot to touch, can hear water running through both of them. I gave them a quick squeeze to help any thing through if it was blocked but felt quite good. It was hard so you could tell there was water in them.

Yeah that's what I think and from the previous posts will be my first option. Not expensive to fix at all so hopefully this will sort it when's get some time off at the weekend.
