Wheel spacers & suspension

Post by Thebusofwoe » Thu May 16, 2013 8:41 pm

Hi guys. :Hello: How is all?? Got a few questions. I will be using the lude for the track. It's getting close to me starting the strip down and build of it and would like some input :) please. Lol. Has anyone/does anyone use hub centric wheel spacers on the track?? And also I will be removing the 4ws and as much weight as I can. >When choosing suspension (which will probably be coilovers) would I still be getting a set for 4ws or a lighter model? Hope it makes sense lol. Thanks guys ;)

Suspension is the same (all swappable) on all 4th and 5th gen and 4ws models.

Hubcentric spacers with the extra bolts should be fine to 25mm.

Ok cool. So if I'm removing weight and get a set of coilovers, I'd get them for a lighter model like a non 4ws model or shall I just request different spring rates? I was planning on 20-30mm spacers with my Teg wheels I have for track. So that's cool. :)

4ws and non 4ws are the same matey. You just want different spring rates

It wouldn't be my preference to fit spacers to a track car, unless you had absolute confidence in them. As the others have said springs rates between models is not an issue. Here is a wiki topic on spring rates and gives examples of what some coilovers are http://www.ludegeneration.co.uk/topic4166.html

Leave the track width alone. That is maybe something to look at a loooong way down the road, there are many things more important to performance to get right first. In my opinion it is not worth the time/cash/effort to get anything other than coilovers. I blew two sets of OEM shocks in just over a year before I got coilovers.

what if you got some wider wheels or certain offset wheels

that might extend the track, if your ditching the 4ws

Yeah SI Import has big wide wheels on his. Although the cash and effort to get them to fit (price of wheels, tyres, arch rolling etc..) would be much better spent on coilovers, braces, ARB's, polybushing, etc...
