As a general comment it is truly staggering how the Americans have managed to get their engines so dreadfully inefficient (I'm talking just even power here, leaving fuel efficiency well aside!).

I've never been able to comprehend how they make such large engines produce so little power. I mean, you must have to deliberately try. Surely they must actually fighting AGAINST the laws of physics to get them so horrendously bad...

I seem to recall reading that over there 92 RON is considered to be premium grade fuel, and their regular stuff has an octane down in the 80's somewhere

Assuming that the way they calculate fuel octane ratings is the same as over here then I guess they must have to run mega retarded ignition timing to prevent engine knocking.

Dom, twist the dizzy and stick some super unleaded in, see if it moves any faster
