I tried the grinder thing last night while swapping the mid section on my mum's '97 Accord. The bolts between the cat and mid section aren't bolts, they are studs and part of the cat. Note to self - check this before cutting any more "bolts" :(

I had to angle grind mine off aswell it's pushing them out of the CAT that's a ball ache, I used a ball joint separator to push them out with in the end, worked a treat, you'll need a bolt the same diameter as the stud mind to use in conjunction with the separator though and your need to cut the studs as straight as possible for it to work well
