Do points make prizes?

Post by Dobbs » Mon May 13, 2013 8:03 am

Hi, how many points do you get for doing 82 (bad Prelude, bad!) in a 70 and what's the likely fine going to be?

Got tagged by a mobile speed van near to Newmarket a couple of weeks back and just received the 'paperwork' in the post :o

Good way to start the week...

Cheers,

Dobbs :vtec:

I would imagine 3 points or speed awareness course?

I got caught by a cop with a gun and pulled in. 68 in a 50.3 points £60 fine... 2 months later I get a letter. "you're ticket has been over ruled as the paper work was not filled in correctly on the road side"

As above, I would imagine 3 points and a fine - although these days they are handing out speed awareness courses like confetti ! I know a couple of people that have been on them and they do make you think.

Would imagine if you were going at 80, you may not have got a ticket, but hey anything over 70 is speeding. it is sometimes difficult as no speedo is 100% accurate. The speed on the satnav is often different to that of the speedo.

I travelled from Nottingham to Ipswich twice last week. On both occasions we came across vehicles travelling at 50 in a 70mph zone. IMO, they are more of a danger than someone going slightly over the limit.

You sure about that?

70 +10% speedo accuracy + 3mph accuracy for reading the speedo = 80mph anyway?
