''Hello, my name is'' stickers at events...

Post by lewd lude lover » Sun May 12, 2013 4:18 pm

I know I missed speaking to some people I wanted to meet and get to know yesterday as I didnt know if they were member, random local, specator etc... I also know that the first few meets I went to I was a little shy and it took ages to put faces, names and forum names together.

Would anyone consider wearing a sticker while on the club stand to let other members know your 'part of the club'?
It's just that I know that it's hard to get into conversation circles sometimes when you only know people through a keyboard and you might not even know who they are anyway...

I dont even necessarily mean one of the generic ''HELLO, My name is'' sticker's, though they will be cheapest I'm sure.

I was thinking of maybe just the allgen silhouette from the banner with a space for handle and name below. That way people can catch a sly glimps if they forgot your name already, recognise someone they shared a joke with online and generally get a little more inclusive.

It's less than a fiver for 100 of the generic 'name is' stickers but it wouldnt be much more to get our own design printed on a 500 or larger run ... unless a member has access to cheap hi volume sticker printing? Im thinking we can send out a roll to a few of the usual suspects so they can be taken to main events where we get the core group who know each other well but also many members who are not as well known. Also it would let us know who are friends of members who have come along (worth talking to) and random passers by (maybe let them pass) etc..

So is this a bit sad or something people might be willing to adopt in the name of club cohesion?

Dbo suggested we get hoodies and/or t-shirts. Same thing I guess. Just thinking maybe stickers are a little bit 'meh'. Do you really want to walk around with a sticker on all day? I know I'm a noob, but do plan on staying here for the long haul. :)

Personalised clothing will look classy & official! Nice.

get your cash out then eh?

a t shirt costs £12? that would be enough stickers for 20 shows. Also how do you make that inclusive for all members? it's more likely to cause more seperation between the ''in'' group with their tshirts and members who are new or its their first show... You wont get anyone spending on personalised clothing unless they come on here every day......imho.

I mean you can put one on when you are on the stand.... if you mooch off then take it off it it makes you feel self concious. It doesn't matter to me but thats up to the individual. When you come back on-stand write out another one..

not for me ta but i would wear a coat hoodie t shirt or something other than a "hello my name is tram road ted and im an alcoholic therefore can't remember anybodys name" sticker.

having said that a t shirt would be useless anyway unless the weather was hot.

baseball caps, you can wear them in any weather.
but i wouldn't.

stickers it is then

no seriously i do think it a good idea but i couldn't , i wouldn't.

We're Honda owners - we can afford it. ;)

I know what you're saying about the divide, but if we can find a company that will agree a price on additional units 'as & when', any new people who join can simply order one when they like. Or we can tell them about it when they join the site. That way they could have one in time for the next meet if required..

Another alternative is to modify the website so we have not only our personalised logo on display, but a profile picture as well. That way you are guaranteed to recognise people when you see them in person.

Back in the early PUK days the Mods back then had black sexy polo T shirts with PUK and the username on the arms and back.

IMO something with a name on is a MUST.
Even i was shy when i 1st met people back in 2007 i think.

All I need to know is who owns the Type-S/S-Spec. That's it.

Anyone can have a photo of themselves as an avatar (as I do).
I would buy and wear a personalised LG t-shirt or sweatshirt if they were available, though would also be happy to put a sticker on.
To go one step better what about plastic name badges that have a safety pin built in?
They would probably cost each of us the price of a pint and would last forever (or until usernames are changed :D ). I think with the LG logo, username and Christian names they could like quite classy.
