Ahhhhhh i didnt know lol, I don't use gloves haha. Now you have me looking at my hands all day. Gunk is excellent stuff.NafemanNathan wrote:Great work mateThat Gunk is amazing isn't it? You know it's good when the top layer of skin on your hand is flaking off a couple days after you've used it without gloves anyway
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

Re: davey,s 4th gen Ba8
Altenator bracket and power steering pump bracket got a nice refresh today, I've put these into a bucket with a solution of all brite aluminium cleaner, very acidic, left it overnight, and it has lifted all of the rust back to clean iron, its hard to tell how much rust is on these but there was plenty,

All the clean metal shows where the rust was laying.

Dried ASAP and sprayed with many coats of high temp black paint, as these sit on the block I thought the high temp would be a better choice.

Got my oil filter in the post as I was feeling lazy one day lol, and have a new drum of oil here to.

Well remember I had a kick in the stones yesterday as my air compressor packed in, after I got a shot blaster and ordered a mini hvlp spray gun and water trap 5ltrs of 2k paint and lacquer! Well I got another one today, very happy with it, it will do all the work I will ever need for sure.
Oh yea can you spot my bionic cat lurking??

Had a go at the power steering pump

Cleaned:

Then angle grinder with wire brush attachment to the drive cup:

Cleaned, goodbye rust.

Dipstick tubing was bad with surface rust:

Wire brush and sand paper:

Decided that it had some pitting I would clean it then krust it to get into any small pitting:

A few of those bits and gearbox brackets got etch primed and then a cost of high build:

I'm almost ready to strip the intake side now and rebuild with it all up again with the Skunk 2. Once the intake is done its on to the timing belt, then into the Ba8.
