ahhh.... so is this a bitch of a job then? what am i looking at cost/time/skill wise? searching the forums for it....just seems to come up with this thread!Thebusofwoe wrote:Nice car matey. Defo looks like the rocker cover gasket that's leaking. U got ur work cut out there matey.
also, thinking i want to clean up behind all that area really well, get some new oil, and just run it for a few mins to properly diagnose where any oil looks to be coming from - am i at risk of damaging the engine by doing that?
This fujitsubo stuff seems to be on a few different parts here and there, are they non oem parts, or perhaps intended for import models?
Cheers guys, all help appreciated!
EDIT - I know we are looking towards that rocker cover, but it did seem to mainly be that oil cooler cylindrical bit where most of the oil was located around when i had first looked at the oil leak, not sure if its maby just stuck to some surfaces more than others.... hence the need for further diagnosis

Dam I should of bid higher its the 3rd prelude ive been outbid on in a month the other was by 11p. they said to me it was a 98 uk car which said to me import straight away lol. if they had known what they had they would probably have got a lot more. I didn't think anyone else was going to bid. Looks like you got a fair bit todo but may have some nice parts to make it worth while.

Rocker cover gasket's quite easy to do - haven't done it myself, but people swap rocker covers all that time from re-painting them etc.Riverghost wrote: ahhh.... so is this a bitch of a job then? what am i looking at cost/time/skill wise? searching the forums for it....just seems to come up with this thread!
(I'm thinking the comment about work cut out was made in reference to their being quite a list of things on the car in general, rather than the rocker cover gasket?)
Don't worry though, they're all solvable problems, nothing major looking that I can see.
If you can't see oil actually spraying out anywhere or badly dripping, you'll be fine cleaning the engine up, topping the oil up and driving it round for a while to see where it's leaking from.
If you check the oil level regularly, you'll soon see how quickly it's using it.

Didnt seem to be spraying or really badly dripping, so i think ill give it a shot tomorrow (or this evening if i can get intouch with a friend with a halfords discount card!)If you can't see oil actually spraying out anywhere or badly dripping, you'll be fine cleaning the engine up, topping the oil up and driving it round for a while to see where it's leaking from.
im not sure about that exhaust manifold and where you think the logo/branding should be, circle it and ill have a look again! bit of cleaning shows that its got what looks to be a Megan Racing intake header, looking on their website id put a good bet on the rest of the exhaust and backbox being made by them as well! And yep, under those seat covers are some leather seats, although they are really in pretty poor nick, hence being covered away. would love to replace them with some like the black ones posted earlier in the thread!

pushki's? haha, yeah they're mint, but he cheated - had them recovered!!!
There are a set of them for sale on PUK at the moment, by h22powaaaaa (or something like that I think). Not perfect by any stretch, but might be better than the ones you have?

No, I didn't cheat. They haven't been re-covered.wurlycorner wrote:pushki's? haha, yeah they're mint, but he cheated - had them recovered!!!
They were fairly good condition grey leather which I dyed black.

Don't bother with H22powaaa's seats. I went to see them years ago and they're in terrible condition.
They are also made of pleather, not real leather. This I told him at the time, but he's a dodgy geezer!!
If your exhaust manifold is a Fujitsubo, it will have a FGK stamp on the flange.

One of the best exhausts you can buy for the Prelude.

damn pushki......those look good! The general condition of the seats is somewhat like the worn bolster you have on the left seat - light wear lines all over the shop, but it seems like your dye kit did the job!
If it wasnt the middle of the night id definitley go investigate this manifold - will report back! -
But i cant be getting carried away with looks yet
got to figure out where this oils coming from/going and give it a proper service, then think about the asthetics!
Whats this Fuelly thing see on some of your avatars? seems about 27-30 mpg is what i should be expecting? how low rpm are these cars happy to run at? im sure i was cruising along quietly at diesel rpms
