Spoon P13 Chip Fitting Issues!

haven't tried disconnecting for 10 mins, but obviously it's been disconnected for hours while I re-installed the chip. Tried disconnecting for 2 mins but to no avail.

Just getting a colleague at work to check all the solder points first.

If still no joy, will try re-installing the old chip to see if the replacement is simply faulty.

dont think he had a socket as was asking last night where to get one

but as said putting chip straight in nearly always overheats the board and doing this twice to put the first chip back in will more than likely kill it

Oh yea Stupid lol. That's what im thinking tbh. Id always fit a socket. Well hope you sort it matey.

i know whn my m8 doing mine i tried to pick the chip up to have a look and he stabbed a me with a soldering iron

almost bloody got me to

he used some machine he had to clean all static from it

makes me wonder how much your chip has been handled and does this really make a difference

I know static kills because i also build alot of computers with a chap from my work. When i first started i managed to fry a ram modual with static.It is important that an earth strap kit and mat are used. And yea, iv bin got with irons before.

it hurts to say the least.

ecu LOOKS ok, but i won't know till I get the old chip put back in & test it.

Regarding esd, I work in an ESD protected area, so that shouldn't be the cause of the problem. Although, I can't speak for the condition of the spoon chip.

I'll have to wait and see. Can't get the chip put back in till tomorrow now, so gotta stew on it all evening unfortunately!

I'm sure i'll get to the bottom of it eventually, but worst case scenario, may require a new ECU..if I can even find a traction control version. So actually, worst case scenario is i'll have to scrap the car.

Could it not be the case that this chip is not compatible with the traction control ECU? Or is the chip in no way connected to that part of the circuit? Are these P13's compatible with all varients of this ECU type?

Ah rubbish man, that sounds grim. As far as I'm aware the TCS stuff is a separate thing, the chip you're swapping is all engine side. If it comes to it, and the ECU is dead, I'd get a normal JDM P13 and ditch TCS, it's a bit a of a poor system anyway on the ole 4G's - you'd still have the LSD in the box, and that's the important bit!

do not know the answer to that one

but even borrowing or buying a known working p13 ecu without tcs will be fine it will just throw a cel light and your tcs wont work

then tcs on ludes is extto useless anyway
