Best tyres for 5th Gen Lude
Post by Vti Steve » Sat Mar 30, 2013 11:18 pm
I'm running 17in wheels at the moment (some DOTZ ones which I'm looking to sell in the near future) and I think the tyres r causing the car to shake at 70ish mph.
Done tracking n balancing but it's still there,
The tyres r in branded c#%p and I'm thinking that its down to old tyres.
The car has sat still for a while n I think new ones would make it better.
What brands r ppl running?
Opinions??

The only decent ones I could ever afford for the Lude were Toyo Proxies T1R's. But they have gone up a bit now, so back on cheapish tyres which are hopeless for grip in wet, but are actually very hard wearing with a huge shoulder rib to protect wheels. Federal SS595

being after market wheels, are you sure the wheels hub inner diameter is correct, if you fit the wheel to the hub and it slopps about and does not center up till you fit the wheel nuts then you need spiggot rings. this is what happened on my old accord when i fitted hyundai evo f2 alloys to it.Vti Steve wrote:So do ppl agree that crap tyres that have been on the car many years, could cause light shaking at high speeds? I have just had it tracked n balanced so it ain't that

try getting the wheels balanced again by someone else maybe
I had this problem, got them balanced twice and went away
have you got spigot rings on the center bore?

I'll second the Rainsport 2's. I've had proxies in the past but the Uniroyal Rainsport 2's are just that bit better - have a look here:taz8520 wrote:Rainsports 2

They are v.helpful so if you're mnot sure just give them a call.
Then get your local tyre fitter to fit them (for cash
