I've used b&q's own budget one on alloys before and it was absolutely useless. i was leaving it to soak for a few days at a time and it was still hard work.

It doesn't work like it used to that's for sure. I used a whole pot on my first wheel when I stripped them and it did nothing. Just bubbled a bit of the lacquer. Cost me about 10 quid as well
My mate got me some industrial stuff that did the job properly. Burnt like hell when I got a drop on my elbow so I knew it would work
Paintstripper is like weedkiller. All the good stuff is banned now for domestic sales.

Did a test 2 on 2 wheels...old Nitromors I have (around 2 years old, but sealed in tin, vs new Nitromors I purchased yesterday.
I applied 1 coat of the old Nitromors onto the wheel, left for 10 mins and scrapped off. Obviously it didn't take all the paint off, I just did this for a comparison.
The new Nitromors need 3 layers of application to get the 2nd wheel to the same state of paint removed as the 1st wheel.
The old tin still had the price sticker on and was £2.50 less than the new stuff, and you got 125ml MORE too.
