Me too. Had been running mine for under 6 months before my oil pump went

Coincidence?

That was gonna be my next question Nafe (which oil you'd been using, as the other person unlucky enough to have had oil pump failure on here). Pretty crappy thing to happen to anyone's engine
Interesting...
I used to be a big advocate of switching to fully synthetic but I did start to notice things like more oil leaks on old engines I'd done that on. That and reading a few more things changed my mind that fully synthetic on an engine that's been run on semi or non synthetic for donkeys years before might be a bit too 'aggressive' for the engine, so I stick to semi synthetic only on old engines now (any I've rebuilt I run on fully synthetic as they are effectively 'new').
Thought process then followed that it didn't make sense to change to a thinner spec oil either, on old engines that really, are pretty long in the tooth.
None of that based on any particularly scientific research by myself really and not putting it down as gospel! (doubtless there will be many on here with different views) just my thoughts based on some engineering judgement/speaking to a few people/reading a few things etc.
(ps you 2 should give it a go sticking a joint claim on fuchs - nowt to lose!

)
