H22A8 Engine Rattle

Hope some of you guys can advise me on this one,

Rattle only starts once hot and going through the rev range and on deceleration. Please tell me i'm not going mad it is just the heatshield's needing reseated or removed.

could possibly be an exhaust blow on the downpipe . where the two pipes go into one

I had this 2 years ago,

I reckon it's your heat shield on either your catalyst ( top or bottom) bolts tend to rust and the shield works free on the corners, taken me some time to locate.

Either that or it is your bottom end I guess, I hope not though :/

Still revs through and is silent when cold. Bottom end would normally rattle its head off when cold AFAIK.

have you taken the mani heatshield off to look under?
i had a rattle but stopped when i removed every heatshield i could find

that's tomorrows job. It will be up in the air anyways getting a full service inc timing belt and getting lowering springs fitted.

Strangest one i found was on my old EP3 and it was the driveshaft heatshield rattling. That's an annoying noise.

UPDATE: Turns out to be the timing belt tensioner.

So have hopefully got one coming on Tuesday and then can do the timing belt and rid myself of the rattle.

There was a rattle from the cat heatshield also but that got resolved today.

UPDATE 2: Timing belt and auto tensioner done and all good with the noise. VTEC my old friend. Its been a while coming but was worth it.

I was going to say tensioner, when they go loose,they then cause the distributor to rattle, sounds just like the vid u posted. We had people diagnosing all sorts of things, even someone came in and said 'I've fitted a dizzy and it's still rattling'. . Glad you got it sorted chap.
