My only worry is that if I put too much strain on spanners then I could round off the bolt/nut! :(

You want a 6 sided socket set for things like that really. I've got sizes up to 12mm, but when I come to doing all my suspension components I'll be investing in the other 6 sided sizes as it's just all too risky using multi-star sockets on old seized nuts and bolts.

Seriously just get out there and get it off :lol: The suggested double interlocked spanner is a good trick, I use that to get caliper bolts off.
