Can't wait to see/hear this all fitted Jay.

There doesn't appear to be much in the way of carbon deposits from leaks on the flexi.
Does look a bit tatty but keep an eye on it like Rob says, it might need attention in future.

When putting together the slide joints, sand the smaller side with some 80 or 180 grit and they will go together quite easily. they should be a tight fit so exhaust paste on top might make the job harder. I didn't have any paste on the slide joints before. You could also heat the bigger side of the joint with a blowtorch to expand it before fitting.

The joint closest to the decat needs to go in a fair bit as well, as it is desiged to work with UK and JDM cats.

Cheers Dave, I cannot wait to get this fitted. The exhaust system is something I've only ever replaced with cheap, crappy parts and I've never been happy with it.

I'll get some sandpaper and give the joins a going over. I might just run some exhaust paste around the edge once they're together I'll try to get it fitted together this weekend on the grass, make sure I can get it all together

Merlin - that's the plan Dave sent me some video clips of his on a dyno, does sound niiiice.

Need to get her once-over'd as well when this is all fitted, make sure everything is ok. We don't have MOTs over here so if something is on the way out we'd never know!

Right hand upper wishbone bushes need replacing

It just so happens I have a brand new set of these. They only come as part of the upper arm. I had to buy new front upper arms just for the ball joints and I used my polybushes, so I have the OEM equivalent bushes available. Let me know if your interested?

Are they OEM rubber? I'm afraid I'm going for poly everywhere When these are replaced I need the rest of the bushes checked, I'm not sure what's poly and what isn't anymore!

Realised I have an oil leak, but I think it's simple enough. I noticed that on the IM (by the EGR valve) there's a little dip and some oil has pooled there.

I think it's coming from either the cam end seal, or the cam cover seal in that area. So another job is to take the cover off again and add a dab of sealant to each corner by the cam end seals.

Theres a place in town that does engine bay cleaning (pressure cleaning I think) so once I've added the sealant I'll get it cleaned so if it leaks again I can track it!

Had the same thing, sorted the cam cover, but didn't clean it yet, so could be the cam seal - replacing mine soon anyway. Looks like you've got the two main culprits though. Good luck getting the exhaust and mani on. I've found the delights of a wire wheel on a drill works wonders to flanges...well whole exhausts too if you want them shiny again with some added Autosol.

Hm.. might give that a shot. It's going to be wrapped, but the exposed parts could do with a bit of a polishing

I'm hoping that's where my oil leak is, my oil seems to go down quite quickly especially when in VTEC but I'm not burning any. Used about half a litre in 2 weeks, just finished the 1L bottle off topping it up. It's going down slow anyway so it's not a major problem. Right now I'm focusing on getting the wheels and the exhaust on

Yeah, for what I paid for a decent wire wheel (about £8), it's lasted for a while now and is bringing a manifold back to life like you wouldn't believe!

Mm...you double checked all the other usual oil leak areas, that sounds like alot lost for that time when your not smoking too much.

Well, I'm just going to start from where I can see. It's definitely leaking from the driver side of the cam cover and possibly the solenoid so I'm going to sort those leaks first.

On a side note my body-colour spraypaint has arrived with the lacquer, and my heat wrap is also here So fingers crossed the weather is nice this weekend for either some spraying or exhaust fitting. Doesn't seem like it is but I can hope.
