mmmmmm VIS Carbon Bonnet

Post by Merlin » Sun Mar 10, 2013 8:14 pm

I got an oppertunity to get a VIS OEM style carbon bonnet off Newkid. I had to take it since it was a only a few miles down the road and not that many come up for sale. A previous owner has sprayed it matt black. I will be sanding it back to see the weave 8-). I have a set of Aerocatches that I will also fit.

I had never felt a carbon bonnet before but nothing prepares you for just how light it is :D A bonus is that there are holes for the bonnet pins already in place. All I have to do is widen it out a bit and my Areocatches will fit. I would have been nervous putting holes in it myself.

Drax - It does bolt up but when fitted to a P13 head it requires a bit of machinery work to convert it. If you have an ATR PDE head no machining in required. Oh, I have an ATR PDE head coming up for sale as well  cleaned and painted to match the above intake manifold ;)

My Tanabe Hyper Medalion backbox does not have a bung.

 The horse lorry is the perfect thing to pic the bonnet up. Lots of space to get in/out and has rubber flooring to protect it & to stop it sliding. The only downside is that it has a top speed of 60mph. The Lude felt like a rocket ship after that!
