New alarm?

My Type S has a Road AI606 cat 1 alarm fitted (think it was fitted in 2007 from receipt) and recently it has been going off randomly, thankfully only during the daytime at the moment.
Do these things 'wear out'? I've had a quote from a reputable installer to remove it and fit another cat 1 alarm for £349 - what does anyone think?

A friend had an alarm on his car which kept randomly going off. Turned out it was a loose connection that kept shorting out. Have you looked over your alarm system to make sure there's no chaffing of wires? Or loose connections?

Cheers - no I haven't checked it yet. It was working fine when I bought it but in the past week has been doing random things like not unlocking or disabling the immobiliser.

Hmm...strange one. Has any water managed to get in to the electrics? My lude sometimes doesn't unlock/lock when using the oem honda remote fob. Still not got to the cause nor managed to replicate the conditions for when it does it. But that is oem. Unsure about aftermarket stuff but id definitely check as muh of the wiring as possible first as that may be the cheapest fix

The Honda fob works fine... The alarm apparently has its own battery so I'm wondering if that could be a problem. Car electrics are about as familiar to me as writing Greek, so will probably have to get advice on it.

It could be faulty ultra sonic sensors - try arming the alarm and disabling the ultra sonics and see if it still goes off.
It could be an intermittent door, boot, bonnet lock. might be worth checking and cleaning all the lock switches

So many things to go wrong.. I don't want an Alarm no more. I do like then when they beep tho, but of retro cool. Can u still get alarms that say "armed " and "disarmed"... I want one....
I'm gonna be ripping the alarm of mine and starting again too.. Don't wanna spend 350 tho!? Unless it talks.

I cant remember if its when you unlock the car after its been triggered or when you turn the ignition on but the LED should flash a certain number of times to let you know what set it off ie door/boot/bonnet switch, ignition, ultrasonic sensor etc so prob worth a look then go from there

In 2001-2002 I used to live next to guy that ran a taxi business out of his driveway. His cars used to start making duck noises if you got within a certain radius then he'd scream at us from his window saying we were on CCTV if we touched them.
Definitely didn't put fireworks up his exhausts on halloween.
