Facelift BB4 - just to say the relay location is right - the 4 pin brown connector has different wire colours to what the manual states hence some confusion and me searching for another 4 pin brown connector when i had the right connector in the first place.
Turns out it is the 5th gen switch that doesnt work in 4th gen. So all i need is 4th gen switch and thats it done.
Fogs work :)

Resurrecting this... I'm blowed if I can find the elusive brown 4-pin connector that the relay plugs into.

There's a 3-pin one, not no 4.

Any better ideas about where it should be?

Mine is a facelift.

It should be at the top and back of the fuse box in the drivers footwell :)

Well I'm blowed if I can find it. The instructions say it's next to the steering column, nope. Vanzep says above the fuse box, nope. I even unscrewed the fuse box in case it was behind it, but nope.

Is it certain that my car has it? Do they all? Mine is a facelift ver.

Pic of around my fuse box:

Any suggestions appreciated!

have you considered it may be on the passenger side seeing as most of the wiring diagrams are for lhd?

I doubt it, as you're supposed to attach a short tail to it, then the relay goes on the end and bolts to the cruise control bracket.

it is in there - should be a blue taped brown plug at the top of the fuse box just under the blue relay you can see in your pic you can also check down the back of the fuse box on the same line :)

I looked behind the fuse box - nada.

I'm pretty sure it's not below that blue relay - but I'll check again tomorrow!

A pic of yours would be useful...
