To clarify - that's In Car Entertainment - not frozen water

There was an oem alarm system for 4g's, it was a dealer fit option I believe (I.e. not factory fitted). Very rare to find one though, normally they're after market systems.
Shouldn't need to do any resetting of imbolisers though - they need the fob every time.
If the fob is present, they allow the ignition to work, if the fob isn't present, they don't allow the ignition to work.

What I don't understand is I dont have a fob for the alarm and the key is just a normal metal key,

Can replacing the battery activate the alarm/immobiliser? Because in all the time I have had the car I haven't had to turn it on or off and the car has started fine until now....

Alarm, yes it can.
Immobiliser was above - normally no, from that age, they need the fob every time.
