What way do most of people here do it, primer then filler or filler straight bare metal?

Another question using rust converter under filler? Is it ok? I've a bare piece of metal now with a lot of pitting left, I'd just like to fill the pitting with rust converter just INCASE there is ANY rust left, could you prime then fill?

Depends on primer. Rust converter is fine when fully cured followed by a zinc primer or etch primer. Then filler.
You can fill directly onto metal to with an 80 or 120 grit key.

Cheers man, that's exactly what I'm doing, I normally go filler to bare metal but I see some people use primer first, tbh I don't it matters either way aslong as it done correctly,

I was just wondering really about the rust converter, hydrate 80 works to clean and rusted steel, my steel is as clean as I can get it 99% rust free lol but I added the converter to it this evening, it's really good stuff. I'm thinking I might just etch it and apply acrylic red glazing putty to the small pits, but tbh the converter seems to have filled a lot of them.
