Hi, so I am going to be painting the motegi skirts and the spoiler back to diamond white.

I will be doing it diy.

I know diamond white pearl has a metallic base coat and a pearl lacquer. On ebay I am seeing an option for a direct shine gloss. no lacquer needed. Has anyone used this kind rather than the base and lacquer? I appreciate it wont give the same depth but on side fairings and such will it notice so much? I'm planning on painting them straight white then putting a few dust coats of the pearl white over the top as an over lay. It doesnt need to be a perfect match, just close enough.

any comments, experience or advice well appreciated.

It's neither.

It's a white base coat followed by a pearl top coat followed by lacquer.

Get the rattle cans warm. Panel to about 20-25reg c and use the 2k lacquer rattle cans.

All in one won't have that stunning pop in the sunlight either.

I'd say 4 coats of base white, 3 very even coats of pearl. One more if needed, then 3 costs of lacquer, one dry/medium and 2 wet.

yeah i can imagine how its going to look. too flat.

as its skirts and i dont want to spend all that on paint its not going to get anywhere near that much on it. 2 undercoat 2 base 2 pearl and lacquer. job done, to my satisfaction anyway.
