Help I am Drowning(not Lude related)

First of all it is Soarer related but a car is a car so I need some ideas and help.I will try and put this in some sort of order.

First my drivers side winder motor went bang and needed replacing. After a few attempts the garage made this work.
This was a year plus ago. In doing this he disguarded the plastic sheeting in the door.(apparently I did not need that!)
The car seemed to get wet on the carpet on the inner sill very slightly after very big downpours so no big deal.

Second The car went into the body shop to have that door sprayed after some kind sod keyed it. In the sprayers wisdom the door card and handles were taken out he managed to brake some of the clips that held the chrome trim and rubber to the bottom of the window and top of the door frame.

Third Moving on to last summer the rain started to body lemonade in and start to leave a puddle in the footwell. Back to garage and off with doorcard and the bottom of the door inside was dry and dusty and all drain holes clear. He reckoned it was coming through the door mirror and siliconed it up (did that well as it stopped the door mirror retracting so off with the door cards again)

Fourth keep with me I am nearly at the begging for help stage! The door card seems to be the problem or at least the out let for the water. The bottom 6 inches of the card is covered in carpet and it is wringing wet and drips or if you run your hand across it you get a nice shower. I need to fix this, yes the chassis is galvanised but my feet are not :( The rubber door seals are excellent and in opening the door there is no trace of wet on them. The only problem with the door is it will drop under a 1/4 inch when opened but in shutting it everything lines up. I don't really want to get a new hinge as they weigh 7kg costs over 200quid and it is a 2 fit man job to lift and refit the door especially if it is not at fault.

Still awake folks :D Any thoughts what does that polythene sheet actually do? is the chrome trim and rubber have anything to do with it? or should I look somewhere else?

PS I can't burn the bloody thing its to wet!

Yes you need that, its the rain shield..... the sprayer was very remis to not replace it imho as some cars rely on it to keep water the right side of the door.

I had similar problems in my Polo, partially down to the plastic sheet which was damaged / hanging at the bottom so the water was dripping down it and into the car. Replacing that helped... But I still had an unrelated leak into the passenger footwell coming from behind the dash, you could see it drip in.

Take the doorcard off completely and get someone to pour water over the area (or sit in it during a storm like I did), should help pinpoint where it's coming in.

I must add, I do still have the leak in my Polo - I never got round to taking the dash off before I switched to the Aerodeck

Hi

Don't know if this will help, but might be worth checking the windscreen for leaks.

I eventually found a leak that was barely noticeable and frazzled the light relay.

Had to replace the windscreen to solve the problems.
