That will be my approach once I've corrected my paint.
A hard coating won't resist crap but will help reduce it's eating if clearcoat.
But I don't gave issues with crap eating lacquer it's the amount they crap on pearl white.
Luckily the lacquer I used on my respray us thick and hard unlike thin soft Honda lacquer.

And the hawk method definitely works. Mate of mine has a Harris Hawk, no birdies for quite some distance around his house, merely from the presence of the hawk
