@pushki: thats rich considering how obsessive you are about OEM  your preposition is to dislike anything that changes OEM state.

but your right, advanced composite materials could never do the same job, or better, than plastics and steel.......... oh, wait a minute :?

I can see both angles here, advanced composites will always be better/more capable than what are essentially cheap materials. The only reason steel is used in construction is because its so much cheaper than other stuff, for the physical properties its pretty crap really.

On the other hand, there are some instances where its OTT for what is required from the final part or simply not cost effective.

Isn't the honeycomb grill an OEM option? :o
I'm not obsessed with OEM. I just think that some after-market parts don't do the car any favours.

This CF grill is a poor design. It should allow air to pass through into the radiator, shouldn't it?
Just because it's made of CF doesn't make it cool. :!:

Additionally, I have a number of after-market parts on my car including a CF sparkplug cover.
That's probably as far as I will go with CF though. In my experience, CF parts are generally a poor fit and have an amateur quality about them.

Can i just add something, if it wasn't for carbon fibre composites the h22 wouldn't be the engine it is.

It has CF reinforced cylinder walls because iron or aluminium on its own isnt up to the job.
