full detail

okay so whilst im waiting on a set of rear disks i felt that i should look to detail the car so the interior has been done as im looking to do a full compound etc on the car tomorrow bring the paint a bit up to scratch so i was wondering id i can get some tips my plan is as follows:

Wash and dry the car
Clay bar
Compound the car (machine polish)
wax and then step back

ive never used the clay bar before so is that the best way to use it, prior to compounding?

I've used a clay bar before and its awesome, was really good on my black type r. Haven't done it on my lude as the paint is not brilliant.

Just make sure the clay is really wet it will work better, you dont need to use much, but make sure you try and cover as much of the car as you can. You will get so much tar off the front end.

Get a spray bottle, fill with water and add a tiny amount of fairy liquid as it lubricates the clay and also stops the water evaporating. Plus as the liquid is a detergent it helps strip any other wax and polish from the paint to give you a clean paint free from additives.

What products you using?
Why do you want to compound the car up to scratch?

The is a difference between compounding and buffer polishing. They usually follow each other and needs to be done properly. Took me 8hours in total to cut compound the car and buffer polish it out. Not including the 13hours i did wet sanding and compound those out and the 5 hours fine cleans polishing before the LSP wax.
