Rear Bumper Colour Difference - Alittle Advice Needed

Post by prelude_h22 » Mon Jun 24, 2013 8:52 pm

Hi All

Just after some advise on what i should do.

I have decided to reinstall my rear JDM bumper as the jdm plate on the back of a 5th gen transforms the look.

Unfortunately the reason why i removed it in the first place was the person who sprayed it for me sprayed it in supposedly the correct colour R504P - Ruby Red pearl. When i installed it at the time there was a significant colour difference.

Can this difference be blended to match with the rear quarter or would it be a matter of brining the whole car to somebody to have the rear bumper resprayed again to better match the rest of the car.

Can paint shops match the colour currently on the car without the need for blending?

Also, are there different shade variations to the Honda R504P paint code?

Hope you can help guys

Heres are a few pics of the rear bumper vs. rear quarter colour difference

Red is a pain to match as it fades over time but a proper spray garage shud be able to match the car if you take it in too them :D
if it aint broken your not driving it hard enough

Cant be done without blending onto the quarter panel.

- Red fades.
- Different paint systems have different paint varients.
- On PPG aquabase that i use i have 2 varients. No1 or bluer.
- Guarantee both will be a close as dammit but different as yours above.

People that dont spray for a living think its possible to spray edge to edge and be done with it and get a perfect match.
People that spray for a living know its only possible to get a perfect match with blending or stick with as close as dammit.

My honest opinion its a full rear end respray to blend it all in.

Thanks paul72 & Ratty. Lots to think about. Or just re-install the UK bumper back and save lots of hassle and money. lol

Cheers peeps. EP3 wheels do look good :) Still havent gone off them after 3 years although was very tempting to go Euro R accord wheels

Ratty. @RattyMcClelland Just wondering on a ball park figure in respraying the rear bumper and blending it all into the rear quarters .

Might get some quotes but wanted to see if the quotes I get are not over priced

Thanks in advanced
