Refurbing Headlights
Post by prelude_h22 » Mon Dec 17, 2012 5:38 pm
Hi All
A mate of mine has a passat and his healdights were all cloudy.
I reccomended him sand it down with different grades and polish it afterwards but i told him it will involve alot of hard graft. Either that or buy a new headlight
He then stumbled across a 3M healdight restorer using a standard cordless drill
It worked brilliantly and didnt even break a sweat.
WIll be using it on the prleude headlights soon
Highly recomended

Its the lacquer that causes the problems. Removing it solves it.

The lacquer protects the plastic, so when removed the headlights will become duller sooner and will require more frequent polishing.
I've yet to find something that can be used to replicate the lacquer permanently, except maybe 3M car-bra, which is an optically clear film.
