Correct Tyre Size For 15" Stock Wheels

Need a new pair of front tyres, the Avon ZV3's on at the moment are shocking in anything other than bone dry conditions due to the tread levels. The car is on stock 15" wheels and currently has 205/55/15's all round. Should I stick with this size or are there any others I can try? There doesn't seem to be a great deal of choice in this size compared to say 195/55/15
