Just a quick question, although I usually use any old paint for things I'm doing, can I use regular car paint on wheels? I'll be primering and applying lacquer. Im going to Halford on the way home tonight and if their range of alloy wheel paint isnt great can I use regular car paint? Any time I have doene a refurb before I have used "Alloy Wheel" paint.

I don't think the UPOL we used for mine was any different to the bodywork stuff I had man. Sure it'd be fine (specially with laquer on top).

Nice using regular paint mean I have amuch bigger selection

It's all in the priming Just apply a good amount of layers and plenty of laquer (if you end up using laquer).

Yeah, you'll be able to use bodywork paints. As said, take your time prep'n and priming them before painting, stick a couple of layers of laquer on.

Dont build up jobby loads of layer of primer, when it hot and baked it will pickle.
You need to find the correct 2 pac primer. 1 drop coat and 1 heavy coat over 320grit.
Flatten back with 800/1000 and use normal paint fine.
Then lacquer.

Doing wheels can be difficult as the alloy is all metal and takes ages to get warm but once warm it will stay warm for ages. Heatgun the jobby out of it.

TBH anything I do to the wheels will be a vast improvement over what they look like at the moment (heavily corroded)
