BC Racing BR Series Setup

Hi All,

I have recently acquired a set of these in a standard off the shelf configuration ie no spring or valving upgrades and will be installing them relatively soon. They come with the usual 10/5kg F/R spring rates. I'm planning for this to be a daily drive so i dont want a harsh ride but still have good handling and response. I know a few people have a set of these installed and id just like to ask your advice on setting them up to save me pissing about, ie what you found worked best for you. I know thats subjective but im hoping you can guide me to achieve the above from your experiences.

BC Racing do provide a guide on how much preload should be added but i cant imagine the same setting works perfectly for all cars, so how much preload would you recommend front and rear if anything?

I want the ride height to be approx a 1 finger gap between the arch and tire, any advice on achieving these measurements straight off the bat?

Finally how do you find the damping settings, whereabouts in the damping range do you find your daily driving settings, freaking insane driving and track driving? I normally express this as -15 from hard etc so if you can stick to that format to be clear that would be great.

Cheers
Max

4mm of pre-load is all that's needed.

I had mine from softest setting around 10 front and 6 rear. This was very comfortable.
The lower they went the more bouncy it got.

As above, 4mm preload, which is the width of one of the C-spanners you use for adjusting it! ;)

As for damper rating for every day driving I have them on around +10 from soft (that'll be -22 using your scaling ;) ) firm but not uncomfortable.

Thanks both, its reassuring to see you're both happy with similar settings for daily driving :)

I thought the preload was set to a standard level from factory, only needing to be changed when doing corner weighting?

Personally ive read varying reports on this and im fairly sure I found something on their website at some point that said they don't preload them from the factory.

Always best to check them before fitting anyway, but yes corner weights are adjusted using the preload.

Are you installing them yourself or getting a garage to do it?

If the latter, get Rich at Performance Autoworks to fit and set them up for you, they will be perfect. They're only down the road from you.
