prelude shock knock

would i be right in thinking this is a common thing on 4th gen preludes i am sure i read about this somewhere but cant find the info now , as i have a knock coming from my rear is this just down to wear in the top mount

It's very common and comes about as the top mount bushes perish/shrink and allow the central dampener shaft to float up and down within the top mount assembly.

You can either replace the top mount bushes or there is a simple cheaper fix using the appropriate sized washers.

I shortened the collars that sit in the bushes by about 3mm, did the job nicely and I believe that Honda revised the part to do the same.

EDIT: just realised I've repeated myself from the link above. :lol:

:lol: i have just found that fix was about to post it up thanks nafemannathan , this is like a flash back to my lancia days that suffered from knocking out rear top strut mounts hence why that was my first thoughts another job for the weekend :D
