I am putting Koni's on the Prelude. The shocks which I removed had a straight shaft which allowed the dust boot, stl wsr and the big rubber bumper to slide right off. The Koni's, however, have a welded collar which prevents these parts from sliding on. What am I missing?

I'm confused...
Can you post some pics of each of them?

I have not the foggiest notion of how to post a photo. I think I was worried abt nothing as altho the boot etc will not go all the way on, it will go far enuf. I did have to open up the hole in the boot just a bit.

To upload pics you need to upload them to a free photo hosing sits like photobucket, then copy the "img" link that photobucket allocates to each photo and paste that into the message text here.
Photobucket has an app you can download, or do it all via the webpage.

I had posed the same question to Koni and received a reply mere moments ago. They said that yes indeedy the dust cover must be drilled out to 12 mm. Why this handy bit of info was not included in the instructions remains unclear.

PS For those who are going to try this, I would advise extreme caution. When a drill bit breaks thru in thin material, it grabs. With a small hole, this usually results in a broken drill but a 12 mm is hard to break so the result is blood on the workpiece.
