Best track day tires

Post by spudep91 » Tue May 03, 2016 7:53 pm

As above. Just for track days so don't need to be road legal. 15 or 16. Should I go full slicks of semi slicks. Thanks in advance

Ad08r seem to have a good review. R888 as well. Unsure where to get or what selection there is available with respect to full slicks.

Federal RSR for the cheapness. I have used them in competition for the last 3 years. For a track day they will do you good.

Most circuits wont let you on with full slicks unless you have a roll cage.

Are track will let you on np with slicks. as have used part warn ones before with unbelievable grip just at 200 a set of part warn slicks it wasn't worth it as they didn't last long at all.

What's rough price for them rsr pal. You use 15 or 16s?

We did run kohmo co3 tarmac ones on 16 rim they were good and lasted rightly. 340 payed for 4 but want to try something else.

Anyone no how long full slicks would last new ones in hard compound?

ive always run 888's on my trackdays, they are a great investment - just go for a medium compound and not a soft otherwise they will be buggered after 1 day on the track!!

im pretty sure mine are 195/50/15, basically it was the cheapest choice of tyre size i could run - plus smaller wheels like a 15/16" are traditionally best on track.

Merlin would be the best judge of competitive tyre sizes and experience on track with them i'd say.

toyo t1r's are cheap right now - seem to be two different compounds/ratings - i went for the ones with a G or F rating for fuel eff. dont know how theyd do in the wet tho :)
also bridgestone potenzas re002's worth a look.
these are road tyres that might just be ok for track :|
