Innovative mounts/traction bar

Post by newkid » Sun Mar 13, 2016 12:22 pm

@merlin @nafemannathan tagging you both as know you both bought the bar and mounts. Did you notice any improvements/advantages.

Reason I ask is been doing some reading up on it an noticed two new parts.

First up is a new rear L bracket. Guessing thus well be stronger than the standard.

Second is front torque/engine mount for traction bar.

Any benefits you reckon these will give?

Are you taking the body lemonade?!

I've fitted 60a mounts to the 5th gen and certainly notice the difference. I did have a random concoction of wrong engine mounts previously, but the engine certainly feels more planted now.

I personally wouldn't fit a traction bar to something that isn't a dedicated track car. I know Ste used to scrape on everything with his daily when it had the bar fitted.

Great to see they've finally finished off the front mount/traction bar link.

Was being serious. I've never really looked into things like mounts. Guessing anyone with a traction bar should be getting the front mount too?

I was going to design a brace to get made up. Might still go that route yet.

The main beam of the traction bar is one piece and it does hang quite low. The radius rods are adjustable and have no bushings.

I am not sure if you would need the front mount kit if you have an Innovative Mounts 3 engine mount kit, although my only experience with them is with the 85a kit.

You can supposedly run the 85a and 95a's without a front mount no problem, but the more is bound to be the merrier.

The front traction bar could be modified to clear the ground a bit more, but if you're going to go to that effort it'd probably be cheaper just to make one from new.

I did actually sell mine to ddoubledanny as he was in need of one when his car went in for its steroid shot, with the intention of getting another eventually, but I'll probably just get one made this time.
