okay guys so a while ago a few of you will remember me saying about the 5th gen I got for free,

well after finally managing to get it into a garage for an mot it turns out she's dying

underneath this queen is completely corroded, I mean so bad that if i start trying to fix parts more problems are going to appear,

but to get her through an mot I only need to replace springs and brakes, the advisory list however is 2 pages long.....

so I guess my main question is how should I go about it, iv noticed some parts are hard to come by, fuel lines, brake lines, hand brake cable,

do I just strip her down and make it a full blown project (my mrs also informed me shes pregnant) so the extra funds I had are going dry

or do I replace the parts to get her on the road and then take it a step at a time, if so were in the bloody hell do I go to get parts for her!!

Don't know what you saw for yourself on the car and how well you know your garage, but... some mot stations can list an absolute ton of stuff on advisories that really aren't that bad at all...

What do you mean by fuel lines and brake lines - as in, whereabouts exactly on the car? Hard metal lines? Rubber lines? Can you take pics or point them out on a lingshondaparts part diagram?

Hand brake cables just get those from a breaker on here. There are several atm (look in the breaking section and on the forum). You sure it's the handbrake cable though? Normally on hondas it is just the handbrake pivot pin seizing on the caliper that causes the problem - gives the same symptom as 'stretched' cable (long handbrake lever travel and poor effort on the caliper).

If it's anything like the blue motegi I'm breaking when he says corroded he means corroded. I'll try get some pics up tomorrow but let's put it this way a 4g arch is very good compared to how and where a 5g goes. The floor and rear jacking points rot away. Worst part is u don't see it till its to late.

I have a full rear brake setup. Callipers, Carriers, discs, pads and Handbrake cables. £110 posted.

im still weighing up the pros and cons of actually fixing her, I may have to send her for burial
