Conversion to 2WS 4th gen write up.

Post by simonc » Sun Nov 15, 2015 3:31 am

Hi all,
I promise you, I've tried to search but no avail. Has anyone done a "How to do it" guide with pics? If I could trouble one of you for the link I'd be really grateful. Thanks so much. ;)

its really easy Simon thats probably why there is no write up and it would depend on how much you are swapping/keeping.

If you can get the subframe complete still in one piece so much the better.

I did the oposite way  from 2ws to 4ws

from 4ws to 2ws is so easy

you need just to find rear subframe from 2ws car with rods and everithing else is the same

As stated, very easy to do.

Bolt off bolt on kinda job.

Did it on my BB1. Less weight & more predictable on a track car ;)

Hi Iain, two words my friend, 'scared stiff'. I don't know how to get it working, sorry, no one here seems to want to even begin to look at it and verify it works properly and yes, I admit it, I'm dead scared it's going to freak out on my on a trip down to Singapore.

Oh? Your 4ws doesn't work? Didn't realise that.
Have you discussed it on here? Have you pulled the fault codes?

@wurlycorner. I tell you why I'm spooked because a few times the wheels have turned when it's parked ( by that I mean when I've gotten out of the car I've looked down and thought, 'hello, that's weird' the wheels are pointed inwards) but as I've had so many people faffing about with it, I really don't know what end is now up, if you get what I mean.
Have I discussed here? Good point and to be honest, I have not because I simply thought mine had packed up and it didn't really matter. One guy did the paper clip thing and showed it worked (intermittently) but he's another one that's vanished and left me without a clue.
The bulb has been pulled from the console so, in my ignorance, I thought it best to let sleeping dogs lie. Would i like to work? Yes, I'd love it to work. Can I find someone to make it work 100% safely? I'm afraid the answer to that is, no.
That's why this 2WS swap is my thinking to at least, take a potentially serious problem out of the equation.

Ha ha, I'm a long way from home buddy. If I were back in the UK, it may have been an option for us both. ;)
