Hi guys.

I've got a rebuild kit for my atr calipers. Whilst they're stripped down I'd like to send them to get media blasted and then painted.

First of all, is media blasting a good idea? Or should I stick with the trusty sandpaper? Calipers are already stripped.

Secondly, what paint have peoples used? Does it have to be high temp stuff? Or can I get away with normal stuff? They'll be going black btw.

Media blasting should be fine. Mask any areas you dont want blasting but media blasting is better than sand.

I used Foliatec 2k caliper paint on mine. Whilst its not flacked or changed. Rust has peeked though in some areas. But not bad.

Did you use any primer with it? Or is that just a straight paint on metal job?

That's the one thing I were worried about...The contact areas for the seals etc. I'll make sure I mask them off properly

I've painted calipers with just high temp paint before and the rust does start to appear through within a year or so. I used etch primer and then high temp paint on the last lot and am hoping that will stand up better (only been a few months so can't comment on longevity).

Certainly there have been no temperature related problems from using the ordinary grade primer though, so don't worry on that front.

No primer. Straight to metal.

I think the rust is from chips and embeded dust.

They are calipers at the end of the day. They brake. Im happy.

I want mine to look better than the bubbling rusty orange that's coming through the red paint and tacky type r decal

Plus, all 4 pistons and 3 of the 4 sliders were seized so they needed refurbing lol
