Lude Generation

Hi all, I'm going to ask a question now that I feel I really should know the answer to, but there appears to be a hole in my knowledge.

Lowering.

With my new 16" wheels the car is sitting a little too high, I think. I reckon it needs lowering just a little, maybe 30mm or so (?) to make the wheels look better in the arches.

I don't want it to look too low like a boy racer though, or have to creep over speed bumps too nervously.

So what are the thoughts on how much to lower, and what exactly do I need to get to do it?

Any info/opinions appreciated.

Don't do it! ' Stilts st@nce' is the in thing for 2015.

Just get some lowering springs.

You can lower up to 40mm with no detrimental effect on standard dampeners, and that will look respectable. I'll grab you a link in a sec.

That's interesting, thanks. No probs with grounding, speed bumps, or tyres rubbing on inner wings?

You'll only suffer from tyres rubbing if you have the wrong offset wheels or wheels too wide.

Although to be fair, I only imagine you can just about get one fat bird in a lude if you're in the driving seat.

If you can get coilovers. The ride quality and performance will be better with coilovers than with lowering springs on OEM shocks.

Lowering springs will be way cheaper though.
