So today I finally got around to taking the skirts off the car and inspecting the sills. This will decide the fate of the car.

So we start with passenger side. Initially on the face of it looks good.

A little rust around the edge, but nothing untoward

Same underneath. Prodding with a screwdriver shows it's all still solid and intact.

However, moving around the back and to the inside........

Completely shot on that corner. Same area @Mart609's went last year I believe. Arches done by the same bloke....coincidence?!

So, around to driver's side......

Again, initial view didn't look too bad

but, um........

Image

Not good. Looking underneath wasn't much better.....

And after a bit of prodding about....

So there we go, driver's side is pretty much falling apart :(

I know a lad locally that does metalwork/welding so will get him to come have a look, but right now I'm not holding out much hope. The arches themselves haven't gotten any worse while it's been sat so I'd be happy to not have them done therefore reducing cost, but we shall see.

Argh, that doesn't look good. Hopefully your mate will be able to give some good news and say he can sort it. Be a shame to see another Lude lost.

its an easy fix buddy the sills are not cosmetic like the arches so although you would still want a really good repair it can be done cheaper

That doesn't look bad really. Better than my Ukdm was when I had that repaired.

If you know a good mobile welder, just buy a couple of cebuls sill panels and get them welded in. Job done and wouldn't be that expensive.
