There was a noise coming from the o/s so I went to have it checked. I dont mind with the disc pads, but not the calipers as well.

Prelude brakes need serviced at least once a year to stop them from sticking. The common reasons they stick is that either the slider pins are seized, piston is seized or that there is so much crap in the carrier that the pads get stuck. Even if things are properly seized you don't have to get a new caliper, people get new calipers rather than fix them, you can get a caliper refurb kit for around £25 that will give new slider boots and piston seals. But hopefully you don't need anything replaced, just cleaned and freed up.

Pull the calipers apart (don't touch the piston unless you have to), clean them (ie remove all the rust and crap), lubricate them with appropriate grease and put back together.

My car needs its brakes cleaned as I can hear one of them squealing. I last cleaned them in the spring.

I had my car serviced before JAe, that was back in August, but that said the brakes have had it. No point getting a kit as I cant do it myself. :/

So what are they saying is wrong with it? Given the noise is only on one side and you've (I assume) been told you need 2 need calipers? :?

If the calipers are bad and if you want to, you could send me the calipers and I'll refurb them for you?? Pistons (if required) , seals, strip and clean and inspection. :)

I would have a crack at cleaning up and re-greasing and the piston and slider pins before anything else. usually sorts them out and its fairly easy for a novice to do.
