4WS Warning light

Evening all,
I have just become the proud owner of my very first Prelude (5th gen 2.2). The only fault I have however, is the 4WS warning light is permanently illuminated. I hate to plead ignorance but I am not entirely sure how to begin resolving the problem. Is there any way of assessing whether there is just a funky sensor incase the 4WS is actually functioning i.e should you see the 4WS in action whilst at a stand still by turning the steering wheel? (nothing happens when I tried this on the drive way).
Any suggestions where to go with this would be hugely appreciated! ...sorry for starting at scratch

Welcome.
Yes, you should see the rear wheels steer if you turn the steering wheel whilst stationary, but... If the 4ws light is on, then the system has locked out because of a fault, so it won't do anything.
Someone who knows more about the 5th gen specific 4ws system will be along shortly to help

Same as 4th I thought

Rear main and sub angle sensor, front main and sub angle sensor, req rear wheel speed sensors/abs to detect speed. You need to get the codes chap. I think it's the same on a 5th, bridge the 2 pin connector and get the blink codes. Not sure where it is on the 5th gen, left side of drivers footwell on the 4th. Might be pass side left side of the footwell on a 5th.

In a 5th it's in roughly the same place as the 4th, tucked up under the carpet on the centre sidewall just above the passenger footwell
Here's the excellent knitting guide:-

Superb, I will get the codes and report back. Am I safe to assume this may just be a shitty sensor - not major mechanical shenanigans...?

Why was I thinking there isn't anything about the 4ws system for 5th gens in the service manual...

It could be any number of things, including dirt.
I had to reset mine after a few thousand miles of ownership and it's worked ever since. This doesn't seem to be uncommon.
As you say, get a code - and try to reset it as per the guide.

So...i managed to obtain an error code of 24 (2 long flashes and 4 short).
Any suggestions as to what the problem may be? I don't know if it is worth noting at this point that the steering wheel isnt completely straight (slightly to the left even when driving dead ahead). I'm assuming this is just needs aligning.
Thanks again

looks like main steering angle sensor
try a reset... if still on you will probably need to replace the sensor behind the steering wheel, or on the steering rack?
not a nice code, bit vague on what the sensor is exactly behind the wheel

IF 5th gen 4WS fault codes are the same as 4th gen (I was right remembering that they're not in the 5th gen service manual that we have access to) then that is related to the front steering sensor.
So yep, wonky steering wheel could explain it.
I suggest you should get the front wheels aligned (by someone that does a proper job, i.e. makes sure the steering wheel is straight as well as just the front wheels pointing in the right direction!) and then do a 4WS electronics reset.
(Unless anyone that definitively knows the 5th gen system says otherwise!)
