Type S Handling Upgrades

Post by Daniel » Sat Jul 05, 2014 8:15 pm

Looking for a bit of advice on the Type s Suspension set up,

Current running standard Shocks on tein springs everything else is stock and to be fair its ok for a few handy turns but not great when you try get on it, when I was pushing the car hard on a roundabout it seems to pitch and shift and all the weight is thrown to the back left shock which seems to sit down on its self and the nose of the car seems to be in the air ( pushing hard around 70km upwards on a round about, the car is well nailed down on 225 rubber on all corners but I think I want more from it ........

Any ideas on what coil overs to go for also if there is uprated anti roll bars available.

I would like to keep a little bit of comfort but would prefer it to be a lot more rigid on hard cornering.

thanks

Dan

Your car sound completely different from mine when it was stock.
My type s was amazing from stock.
What's the wheel width for this 225s and what compound?
Tracking setup?
Old bushes?

I recommend bc coilovers and choose your own spring rates.

I have BC racing Coilovers, Tanabe Anti-roll bar, standard front OEM strut brace and custom (Cebul - PDM) rear strut brace..

BC racing coilover on 'Soft' setting is really nice, even nicer then the standard suspension.. :? 8-) and on the 'Hard' setting it's more track oriented.

I knew you 2 would be on this thread like a rash haha thanks lads ....

i think the stock dampers might of had there day being honest, they are not leaking but they are not great IMO. but she is 1996 and they look original.

I really like this car so I plan to make it just the way I want it and keep it.

Im running ep3 wheels so what ever width they are but it was also present when I had the standard rims on it running 205's.

how much roughly are the BC coil overs and have you any links to all this gear ??

I think bc's are around £650 but I'd rather have meisterr's as there just as good but much better service and after care.

My friends type s is very good in the corners using tein import coilovers, apparently uk version is softer!
236bhp and 170ft/lb stock

Yer tein ha's are stiffer on the front.

Bc coilovers have great service. Called them up and got stiffer rear springs and came next day. Prelude uses mr2 rear springs.

Get some coilovers and you will see massive improvements.

Cheers for the replies lads . sorry on the delay getting back just been busy with work.

Would I be correct in saying that 4g / 5g coilovers would fit the type s no problem??? A set of nearly new tein basic dampers have come up for penny's and I will go get them tomorrow if they fit

Thanks in advance

Yes they will fit. Depending on price there are better than Tein Basics.

Basic tein damper height adjustable no rebound or any other fancy settings and less than 1000k covered for150 Euros

Photos always help but I think they are worth the money
