What size 17" is best?

Ok folks, I need a little help as I'm super pissed off with the wheels I have banging on the rear all the time. I can't afford to have my arches rolled at the moment, plus, I've fallen out of love with the wheels.
I think they are the wrong offset, not that I know what offset would be best. Not even sure what they are. All I can remember off the top of my head is that they are 17x8.
For now I plan to go back to my OEM wheels and sell the Panasport's, but I need help on what's the perfect 17" size wheel to go onto a lowered 5th gen? Surely these cars have been around long enough for the trial and error stage to be over haha.
What size are you rolling? what et?
Any help greatly received

215/45-17 best compromise on looks, handling, correct tire wall, etc etc. They fit into the arches nice. tried a frew sizes and these are the best all round choice IMHO

As above... The comfort level is perfect with that set up...no rubbing either.

So 17x7.5 ET 45 wrapped in 215/45.
Thanks guys. The knocking has really been putting me off driving recently. Owning my Lude really hasn't been an easy experience so far. So many issues. I refuse to give up though haha.

it took replacing all the (10

) ball joints and every bush and shock and everything in the suspension before I was happy. Then put it in a garage as you're scared to scratch it
To be fair the suspension was in ok condition

before I got to it but.....

Mines on Tein coilovers from when I bought it. Rides nice. Just not since I fitted the wheels currently on it. I've had bigger issues than wheels though, timing belt tension fails, sticky calipers, balance shafts. And I've only owned the car 5 months

Don't sell it after sorting all the issues out.....get the motegis done in white, will look great against your cars colour...
Plus it enhances the JDM look on your car
My old type s... Yours will look really nice esp with the bonnet spoiler

I definitely don't plan on selling it. I love it, it's just testing me haha. I'd prefer after market to be fair. My mate who owned it before me had Weds Sports on it, they looked the nuts but he wanted to keep them for his next project, an S2000.
I was thinking something bronze, like the Weds, maybe gunmetal. Maybe even a polished lip. I hate picking wheels, it's such a difficult decision. They can either set your car off or totally ruin it. No inbetween haha.

Yeh, wheels are very personal.....so staying OEM is safe bet
Unless you got £funds to mess about with....
